I take this opportunity to thank all the Careleavers who shared their time with children in the institutions; it was humbling it was exciting!. We understand that each of us is going through some challenges in life, but irrespective of that, we acknowledge there are others outside there who need our help more. We went out and had fun with the children, we went out and encouraged them in small but big ways, we engaged ourselves in their chores; and as one of us said, "we became their brothers and sisters something that we missed when we were kids"
The year 2010 saw us meet at the offices in Kawangware; i am thankful for the psychologist (Mrs Joan) who stood with us in all those sessions, she listened to each of us, but never failed to encourage us, never failed to prompt us to be high achievers in life. I remember one thing that she said, "when you are outside there, nobody cares if you are an orphan". We have to keep our heads up, with determination and passion try to be the best that we can be, we have to try hard not to be influenced by our pasts, allow our pasts to be an inspiration not stumbling blocks; Look back but don,t stare!
A lot of Thanks to Amici Dei Bambini- They have supported 2 of our young brothers who are determined to finish their high school. We look forward to seeking more funds to help those who have not had the opportunity.
The other thing is that we look forward to helping those who do not have job skills get this essential skills to make ends meet. It is very hard to make it in this life without skills that are not marketable and with no skills at all its even worse. This we can achieve through friends of Careleavers, through individuals who have a heart to make the lives of young people better, through organisations that have found places in their hearts to give young people a second chance in life.
"The greatest revolution in our generation is that of human beings, who by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives"
William James
Thank you all and we look forward to a better 2011!
This is great.
